Ukraine says Gazprom doesn’t resume gas transit to Hungary

KIEV, Oct 4 (PRIME) -- The information that Russian gas giant Gazprom has resumed gas transit to Hungary via Ukraine is incorrect, the gas stream registered on the border is re-export of gas from Ukraine’s underground storages, CEO of Ukraine’s national gas transportation system operator Sergei Makogon said on Monday.

“Information is being spread in the press that Gazprom has resumed gas transit via Ukraine to Hungary. It is not consistent with the reality. Yes, there is an insignificant gas stream from Ukraine to Hungary, but it is not transit, it is re-export of gas from Ukraine’s underground storages by European traders,” he said.

According to information of Hungary’s gas transportation system FGSZ , the transit of Russian gas to Hungary through the territory of Ukraine was not stopped fully on October 1 after the launch of supplies to Hungary via the TurkStream pipeline, but it was cut 4-fold, then halved on October 2, and disappeared fully, but then recovered to 200,000 cubic meters per hour on October 3.
